He has been involved in every aspect of architectural design, construction documentation, contract administration (including inspection of works) and liaison with public agencies through his experience on many complex building projects including an international airport, hotels, office buildings, a library, a school and residential work. Through his participation on two hotel resort projects in which Robinson Club GmbH were operational managers he has successfully integrated German requirements and procedures into Greek building practice in both cases in building complexes of outstanding architectural merit. Recently, as senior team member on the New Athens International Airport project, for which Hochtief AG is the Contractor, he had wide ranging responsibilities stemming from his engagement with the project from its initial stages and his consequent depth of knowledge of the issues involved in a building project of great complexity.
March 1999- May 2000 Construction Documentation and supplementary Design of the retail units of the Main Terminal Building and the Satellite Building, New Athens International Airport. Project cost 3.3 million.DEM The client for this project was the German firm Lindner A.G. the main finishing subcontractor of the airport project, which, in addition to its main contract work of partitions, wall claddings and ceilings, was awarded the work relating to the retail unit shopfronts. The basis of the retail unit work was the preliminary design of the British interior design office of J.H.P. This design was further elaborated to take into account the requirements for seismic movement set out by Lindner’s client, the main contractor Hochtief; to adapt the design to incorporate Lindner’s standard components as far as possible and to resolve technical manufacturing problems unforeseen by J.H.P.’S designers. Mr. Papoutsakis was responsible for coordinating the design work with Lindner’s client, Hochtief, producing all relevant documentation for the design approval process, producing all working drawings necessary for the site, providing material take-offs for material procurement, inspecting and coordinating work of Lindner subcontractors and general site support for every aspect of the retail unit works.
